Groundwork Session
To help you grow strong with money, I guide you through a 3-step process.
1. Greeting: your free intro call– to introduce ourselves
2. Groundwork: a unique, one-time session– to gain clarity
3. Growth: financial coaching sessions–to implement change
What is our Groundwork Session?
Our Groundwork Session is all about getting clear on the present state of your money life.
When we see where you are, we can shine light on the path to where you want to be.
Our Groundwork Session lays the groundwork we need for all our future work together.
Why Groundwork?
With money, everything is connected to everything. I want to see as much of the picture as I can in order to benefit you as much as I can.
There’s plenty of financial education, including my email newsletter and articles. But even the best articles can’t implement their guidance into your life. In our work together, we can.
I love the Groundwork Session because it’s our launchpad for discovering the right next actions for you.
You don’t want to expend energy on moves that are just fine in the abstract, but not your best next steps. So let’s take time to understand your situation.
Starting with clarity means I can customize my future guidance to you, with your unique situation in mind.
What we’ll do
Your Groundwork Session will have 2 parts:
1. Clarify where you are now
2. Clarify the path forward
Clarify where you are now
My main role is to ask questions, listen, and understand. Your role is to teach me what you know about your money life.
In order to get a clear look at where you are now, we’ll benefit from getting to know both your mindset and your numbers.
Clarity about your mindset
I’ll ask questions to explore your perspective of money. I'll learn about your experiences and beliefs. Your unique journey with money includes not only objective facts and figures, but memories, lessons, and values.
When I first thought about taking my money more seriously, I worried it would mean analyzing past choices and dwelling on old numbers. But growing strong with money is more about the future than the past.
Sometimes moving forward benefits from looking back. But it’s still about moving forward.
The more I get to know your mindset with money, the better guide I can be. I love this part of our conversation, because it means I can align my future input with how you view money.
Clarity about your numbers
Before our Groundwork Session, you'll complete the Money-Strong Intake, a survey to capture your most important numbers.
Using your numbers, I'll create your personalized Money-Strong Dashboard, a spreadsheet that depicts your key numbers at a glance.
I'll present your personalized Money-Strong Dashboard for the first time in our Groundwork Session. It's a tool to get a comprehensive look at where you stand.
I'll teach you to use your Money-Strong Dashboard as a tool moving forward in your money journey.
Clarify the path forward
Having gotten to know your current situation, I will spell out the best next steps for you.
I will propose how moving from your Groundwork Session to Growth Sessions might address your needs and strengthen your life with money.
Alternatively, I may recommend specific action steps to tackle on your own, before moving forward with Growth Sessions.
Your Groundwork Session purchase also comes with an after-session check-in call. We'll put our check-in call on the calendar before we part ways.
My money journey
My relationship with money used to be hindered by shame, confusion, avoidance, and outdated mantras that no longer served me.
I got sick of feeling uneasy about money. I knew I lacked confidence because I was in the dark.
So I determined to learn everything I could about personal finance.
I began to dream: What if money weren’t bad and overwhelming?
The more I learned, the less fraught money felt. What if I treated my money like a tree? I could care for it, enjoy it, and allow it to provide for me. I could celebrate when it thrives and grows strong. I could appreciate its power and understand its limits.
I grew competence and confidence unlike I could have imagined. I repaired misunderstandings. I embraced how money connects inextricably to everything that matters to me.
Your money strength matters
The more I learn about personal finance, the more convinced I am that money isn't life. Money is a tool to strengthen what matters in life.
If money strengthens what really matters, then your money-strength matters.
You pursue health in your emotional, social, and physical life. So get healthy in your financial life.
If you're unclear on your money, it's probably a sign that you're weak with money.
But there's no need to stay that way.
Let's lay the Groundwork for strength.
I'd love to help you grow money-strong.
