6 Free Financial Health Quizzes Worth Trying

How healthy are your finances?

You might immediately think of your income, credit score, debt balances, savings, or net worth. Those numbers matter, but your financial health is bigger than any single number. A few thoughtful questions can reveal where you stand and point you in the right direction.

I found six free financial health quizzes worth trying. Set aside a few minutes and take each one. Then ask yourself: What differences do you notice? What themes do they share in common? Which questions make you pause?

1. DoD FINRED Financial Well-Being Assessment

The Financial Well-Being Assessment from the Department of Defense Financial Readiness program looks at financial health from several angles, including present and future financial security and freedom of choice.

It asks questions about your ability to handle emergencies, manage day-to-day finances, save, invest, and prepare for the future. You receive a score along with resources related to areas where you can improve.

I took the assessment and my score was 57

It's designed for the military community, but the questions can be thought-provoking for anyone. I like how the questions are concrete, practical, and straightforward. Take the quiz to see how members of the military community are being influenced!

2. Caleb Hammer Financial Score

This short quiz takes about three minutes and focuses on your money habits.

It asks questions to identify where you're losing money, struggling to save, or feeling stuck. The tone is more direct than some of the other assessments on this list (though not as harsh as his show!), which is what some people like.

I got a Hammer Financial Score of 9 out of 10

The way I think of Caleb Hammer: sound money advice in verbally abusive packaging. He's pretty popular. Take his quiz to see how he's influencing his followers!

3. CFPB Financial Well-Being Assessment

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau offers a 10-question assessment. It focuses on how your financial situation affects your security and freedom of choice.

Can you handle a major unexpected expense? Are you securing your financial future? Can you enjoy life thanks to the way you manage your money?

I took this financial well-being assessment and got a score of 86

Financial well-being is not just about how much money you have. It's also about how much control, security, and choice your money provides.

I appreciate how this quiz highlights the connection between money and the security it's meant to provide.

4. Ramsey Solutions Get Started Assessment

The Ramsey Solutions assessment asks about your life, your money, and your goals.

Then it points you toward a plan based on where you are right now, inviting you into the Ramsey universe, with its seven baby steps and countless products and services.

In the film What About Bob?, Dr. Leo Marvin wrote a book called Baby Steps

Ramsey's approach, centered on seven clearcut baby steps, has motivated many people to pay off debt and get control of their money.

While I don't share all of Ramsey's opinions, I love that his baby steps got their name from the classic comedy film What About Bob?

Take the assessment to learn what all the baby steppers are talking about!

5. Schwab Financial Fitness Quiz

The Schwab MoneyWise Financial Fitness Quiz includes questions designed to help you see how financially fit you are.

It touches on common areas of financial life, including saving, spending, debt, and planning for the future.

A quiz like this can be a useful reminder that financial strength is built from many different behaviors. You may feel confident in one area while realizing another deserves more attention.

I've been so impressed with the articles and resources Schwab offers. I don't even own a Schwab account, but I regularly open their email newsletters, because they're always solid!

6. Tulip Tree Finance Money Strength Assessment

Of course, that brings us to my personal favorite. I invite you to take my own free Money Strength Assessment.

My goal isn't to give you another reason to feel bad about your finances. It's to help you see the bigger picture of your money life— including the strengths you may not recognize along with areas where you need more clarity.

Financial strength isn't built overnight. It's not about being perfect with money.

Financial strength grows when you understand where you are, decide what matters to you, and take the right next action for you.

Your financial health is more complicated than a single score. You might feel strong in some areas and uncertain in others.
